300k steps in July - Day 30

  • 10,000 steps
  • 341k steps SMASHED
It's my last day! I'm about to post a really lengthy wrap up that details my stats and feedback from the month's challenge, so I'll try not to go into too much detail here, but lets just say I loved it and I'm going to keep the new healthy habits I've gained (including going for a walk at lunch and after dinner) up as much as I can.

So I've got a confession; I'm a bit of a nerd. I use spreadsheets a lot in my day job (and I totally love it). I've been wielding spreadsheets as a way of tracking progress and they have predicted my weightloss spookily correctly.
Month 1 - I add in exercise classes, burning approx 6.6k of calories over the whole month. 6.6k deficit calculates to 0.9kg weightloss (using the admittedly questionable 3.5k = 1 lb conversion - there's an article below that talks about how this may be baloney). And how much do I lose? 0.9kg exactly!

Month 2 - I add in walking on top of exercise, adding an additional 5.4k steps per day which is approx 1.9k cals extra burned a week. Over the month this calculates to a 8.1k deficit (even more than my exercise!) which is.... 1.1kg. How much do I lose? 1.1kg!

OK so this is probably a total coincidence, but I just thought that was pretty cool. Of course now it is making me paranoid that I need to do the classes, and the walking AND something else to burn calories. Luckily I calculated that I drink about 1.5k cals in alcohol alone every week  so that means... (she calculates frantically)... all else being equal I'll lose an additional 0.8kg of fat this month. Whoop! Nerd power!
Anyway, all that mind-numbingly tedious calculation aside; what I found amazing is adding in some extra steps every day burned even more calories than my frantic exercise kick, and my results are even better. Admittedly I'm still doing the exercise, so the effect is cumulative, but I've definitely seen a massive improvement in mood, results and energy this month so yay!

My steps are below... I've guestimated today because it's not over yet
