I've started with a bang (to my bank account) by buying replacement pans for my Teflon frying ones. I've also had a mini-splurge at Handmade Naturals on some organic and more natural face creams to sub in for my old favorite (but unfortunately paraben heavy) Oil of Olay.
In terms of food I've upped my organic Riverford delivery and am ladening every meal I cook with plenty of in season, local and organic veg. Yum.
I'm loving the diet, but I would be lying if I said the whole not drinking thing is sometimes a little challenging. I met up with friends on Sunday at a pub and had to watch them sip their shandies/wine in the sunshine. It made me a little jealous. It didn't help that they kept offering me their drinks to sip. It may just be me being a fun spoiler, but I politely declined. Sampling booze would not help with the situation; it's technically cheating on the whole no-alcohol thing and I'd only want more.
But the benefits are making it very worth while. I said this last month, but of everything, cutting out alcohol, excess sugar and reducing gluten has had the biggest effect in Leaning me out. My tummy has tightened up and I find myself occasionally patting it in pride.
Favorite recipe thus far is the Clean and Lean oat pancake recipe... they are delicious! Even my boyfriend is a fan.
Oaty Pancakes
Link to original recipe: Clean & Lean PancakesServes: 1 (scale up the quantities to feed more)
Prep & cook time: 10 mins
35g oats, 35g greek yoghurt, 35g of milk, 1 egg, bit of cinnamon. Blend them all in the blender.
Heat a frying pan with some coconut oil (or butter).
Pour in the mixture to form any number/size/shape of pancakes you like.
At this point I add some organic blueberries, but you could add banana, apples etc, or leave plain.
Cook on both sides (flip when you get the little bubbles in the pancakes)
Chuck on a plate and top with lemon juice and honey/agave nectar.
Eat.
Yum.
